Balancing My Life

Not much has happened in our household the past few days. We are starting to get into regular boring old life. KC has been a very good student, making sure to study and take notes while doing his readings. And while he studies I clean, listen to his cases (which are very interesting, might I add), and watch pointless summer tv.

The highlight of my day is when I got off work, and KC and I head over to the fitness center in the apartment. In the past 6 months I really had a hard time with working out. I want to blame that on the fact that I was super busy planning a wedding and getting ready to move. But I fear that it was because I was just getting lazy. But I've gotten off the couch and fell in love with it all over again. There are two factors that have helped me get back on track.

1. I am stuck in the apartment, and it is my only chance to get out everyday. So I will take whatever it is, even if entails sweating like no other (no thankyou MA humidity).

2. KC has joined me, it is so fun to share in something you love with your spouse. It is so beneficial for both of us.

With that said, KC has also found a way to balance our life. That is called "Treats at night". So far, I have found out why couples gain weight after they get hitched. For us, I thought we would stay the same, because I thought we would continue to eat as we did before. But this is not true. Before we were cooking around people that may see what we eat and say something about how often we eat sweets. Parents, roommates, siblings...but no one is around now but us. Thus no judging occurs. And secondly, I have replaced fast food dinners with homecooked dinners, which is good. But both of us seem to feel like we want just a little more. And so we make brownies, cookies, or have fruit snacks (3 packs each, sometimes). I say this to recognize it is a problem. That's the first step right? I hear the second step is doing something about it. When does that happen? I will let you know...

THREE PACKS OF FRUIT SNACKS?? WHOA GOLLY!!

This "treats at night" sounds very catchy and I hope it becomes a major national trend. Once it reaches my area, I will be sure to participate avidly. I like to have a Kit Kat or Twix after sun down, does that count?

  2. Yay for treats at night!!! They are the best-I just topped off a tub of Dulce de Leche!
I too have been lazy with my workouts so now you are inspiring me to get off my butt and workout. I am actually missing it and am excited to workout tomorrow night with my class. I like the idea of you two working out together. I think I'll try to get JOsh to do that.
    Anyway, we miss you guys!

  5. Treats night is EVERY night around here! And I don't see an end in sight. And marriage does make you fat, it's just a fact. In about 6 months you'll get fed up and do something about it. Until then...enjoy your little heart out. You won't let it get out of control!

  6. That's great that you don't have to go looking for people to do things with, you already have a built in (or chosen) buddy...I can't wait for that, haha!

  7. Derek and I are starting to run (aka. we have ran twice this week...but HEY, that's great progress for me!)

Anyways, reading this post was very motivating. It's nice to know other people are trying to do the same thing.

P.S. What I am really taking out of this post is how much I want an evening snack right now.

  8. How awful! Treats? I hate treats! I never have them and I've always wondered why people like treats! Yuck! You won't be catching me eating treats, or Kent, not ever! I don't know, Vieve, you need to eat more wheat grass, just like us.

NOT! I just ate four brownies and it's 9:16 p.m. Your acorn didn't fall too far from my tree! Have fun everywhere! Love you both, Mom
