New Haven

Life has been absolutely exhausting as of lately. Or better yet I should just say work has. First off, let me put a stop to the rumor (Kelsy...) that I have been working 22 hour days. I have not. I have, however, been working 11 hour days almost everyday for the past month. The good news is that my hard work is starting to show in our profit margins, and thus hopefully the pressure will start to wear off a bit. The bad news is that I haven't had a chance to do much lately. Nor have I posted on my blog. Called or talked to family members. Or replied to emails. Sorry everyone. I am still here. And surviving.

With all this stress, I needed something good again. And the one place on earth that I love the most is the ocean. For some reason, when I just look at the endless span of water, I just get the feeling that life is good. So when KC suggested that we go to New Haven, CT (the home of Yale University) and try to find a beach I couldn't have been more happy.

The drive to New Haven, CT was about an hour away. And as you can see from my map, that is half way between Springfield and NYC. When you hit New Haven you have the choice of going on to NYC, and if we hadn't of had to make it back to Springfield for KC's bball game, I think we would have proceeded in that direction. But we turned off the freeway and after about 4 minutes, we were at the "Long Wharf" in New Haven. It wasn't the prettiest area of the ocean. It wasn't even really a beach. But the smell of the salty water dissolved all my stress for those few moments. It was really pretty to see the icy water capped with snow. The water was so calm, since this was only an inlet of the Atlantic ocean. We walked around for little while and then sat on the rocks to just think and enjoy the scenery. I am so lucky to live so close to so many beautiful places. It is nice to escape from the lull of everyday life, at to take the chance to spend time with KC exploring all that is around.

  3. Alls I know is...I don't care who has a basketball game, unless it was at the Garden, there's no way I would have made the turn off the way to NYC!! I wanna go there so bad.

Guess what? My sister (steph) and her husband have a really good friend from his mission. (he served in Boston) He is supposedely super rich. He is desparate for us to come and stay in his mansion on Cape Cod. Wouldn't that be fun??

  4. I miss you guys. I may have to come and visit you all. Boxster has been sick for about 3 weeks. His little back legs are not working well. I think old age has set in. I am glad you guys got to take a trip and de-stress a bit.

  8. Ahh, thanks for the lift! You probably recall the years and years of driving to L.A. and going straight to the beach. Beach, beach, beach. Then, pack up and go home. The best part is now watches, all junk food and just yes, breathing in the air. Gen, Hawaii. We all held our glasses in the air yesterday and made a toast: Pro Bowl game next year or bust! How 'bout it, KC? You game? Love ya, Mom

  10. I'm not sure what part Adam played. But he would totally fit the part of Fiyero. The second time we saw the play Fiyero was black...but he could have been the first Fiyero or at least his understudy. I'll have to track down the playbill.

PS I thought about it last night and talked to Kels, we should go to NY. Let's start looking at plays.
