Just My Luck

Kelsy, who is my maid of honor, and I attended a bridal show on Saturday to see the fashion show and get some ideas for decorating the reception area. Plus I was looking for some deals, and as I remember they give you loads of coupons and stuff. We were there for no longer than 20 minutes before I had won a $100 gift certificate for a bouquet from Emberlily's Floral Shop. When I told my mom, she said that she would have been more surprised if I had NOT won something while at the show. It wasn't like they were giving away gifts left and right, the matter of the fact is that I am just lucky.

I can't remember if I have told this before, but I believe my luck all started one night when my family was bored. My mom decided to entertain us girls by giving us the chance to win $20. In order to win the prize, the winner would need to guess, dead on, a number she had chosen that was inbetween 1 and 1000. My sisters gave much thought to what number they would guess. One strategized by guessing the #1. The other guessed something in the 200's. When it came to my turn to pick a number I casually said, "Um, Seven -Fifty- Three?" And with $20 in hand I was only starting a streak of good luck.

In the seventh grade I won the monthly prize drawing 2 times, in eighth grade once, and again in the ninth grade. I once found $1000 cash in an envelope on the floor of the DMV, and being a goodie at the time handed the stuffed envelope to an associate with two piercings, and 5 visible tattoos. Being naive, I was sure it would find its owner, instead I bet it found a dirtbag with a stash of MJ. I sure wish I would have saved it for something better like my college education. I also knew I was lucky when I passed wendover on the way to California and noticed that the exit is 410...my birthday 4/10. The only thing I have yet to win is the Dorothy Johnson football pool.

I guess what I am trying to tell you is that this is one bouquet that you will probably want to catch even if you don't have marriage in your future, because I won it from luck...so you never know what could come with it.

  1. Veive,

I am very lucky too. I always win doorprizes and it's my business card that gets drawn from the fishbowl for free lunches. Even Shark gave me his business card to drop in the bowl and he won the free lunch that week.

You and I are a rare breed. Cherish it while it lasts.

Please post if your sis has baby boy Sue. I know she wouldn't be able to blog right away and I am dying to know!!

And you know she did not post anything today after staying home from work yesterday with cramps....so inquiring minds want to know.
